Blue Peter Shoe Biz Appeal news

Shoe Biz Appeal gets David Beckham’s boots!

Football legend and UNICEF Ambassador David Beckham has donated a pair of his football boots to the Blue Peter Shoe Biz Appeal. And Zöe was lucky enough to fly out to Spain to interview him!

David said: “The Shoe Biz Appeal is a great idea - just one pair of shoes will make a difference. My boots have only made a difference before when I’m wearing them on the football pitch or the training ground but by collecting lots of shoes and trainers for this appeal we can make a difference to the lives of children affected by HIV and AIDS.”

David’s a big fan of Blue Peter, and even says the show helped to inspire him to become a professional footballer. He said: “Blue Peter has played a huge part in my life. When I was about nine years old, I was sat at home watching Blue Peter and they did a report on Bobby Charlton’s Soccer Schools. I called my Mum and Dad in and said that I needed to go. They saved up the money to send me and that’s where it all started. I’ve always said that I owe a big thank you to Blue Peter!”

The Shoe Biz Appeal is supporting UNICEF, and David is a UNICEF Ambassador. He said: “I think that being asked to become an Ambassador for UNICEF was one of the proudest moments outside of my football life.”

Now David wants everyone to back the Blue Peter Shoe Biz Appeal which will help children in Malawi who are living extremely difficult lives because of HIV and AIDS. Find out how you can get involved.
